Keep A Tally

Do you see it?  Look it’s over there and there and there.  Do you see it?  Do you see it?  Do you see His greatness?  Do you recognize him?  Do you know how great He is?

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.  Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.  I Chronicles 16:8-9, 23- 24

The word instructs us to declare his greatness and give thanks daily.  How can we proclaim what we don’t see?  How can we be so blind to miss it?  How can we be so tight-fisted to not grab hold of it?

David encourages us to declare God’s glorious deeds among the nations.  To look deeper about the meaning of this word declare, in Hebrew it means to count, recount, or relate.  The root of the word means to score with a mark, like to keep a tally record.  We are to keep no records of wrongs, but to keep all records of his goodness.

Taste and see he is good.  Look up.  Look out.  See his glorious works surrounding you, engulfing you.  Open your hand and receive the many gifts he has waiting for you.  Then open your mouth to recount his glorious deeds before others.
